Getting a good turnout is tough in any primary election and we knew this year would be difficult without a top-tier race for Governor and Senate that was on the ballot in 2010.
So after three days of early voting it should not come as a surprise that turnout is down by around 30% in Clark County. Having the first days of voting on Memorial Day Weekend did not help the numbers, but to be honest, most people don't even realize that an election has already started. Yes there are plenty of signs on the roads and mailers going out, but only CD-4 race has any TV ads on the air that remind people to go to the polls.
Either way it looks like a really small pool of voters for everyone that has a primary include us with
Secretary of State Ross Miller stating that turnout
should be around 15-20%.
I'm curious to see how the low turnout will affect the race in the Senate District 1 Democratic Primary between
Senator John Lee and P
atricia Spearman that NV Progressive has covered so well
here and
here.
See you on the campaign trail...
